Hi everyone
I'm not sure if this is in the right place so please feel free to move it if it isn't.
I have been wanting to design my own T shirts of my birdhouses and using Extreme Birdhouses as the Logo.
Cindy did some great digital Lo,s of a few of my pictures that i now use as avatars.
I was thinking that same similar idea would look great on a T shirt along with my logo . Maybe a different design for the front and back.
My biggest problem is i don,t have a clue on how to go about it. I'm only a carpenter
I would like to make them as gifts to friends and family.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
This is one of the pictures that Cindy did for me.
She did a beautiful job on them.

Wow, great idea, but I'm clueless.. Maybe some of the sewers, artist will drop in and "know" where to start.. other than taking an image to a T-Shirt Shop and have them do it.. You want to make them yourself??

you can buy stuff to print out yourself then attach to t-shirt. Hp Iron-on transfers. don't come out as good as the shop done ones though. at the moment Vistaprint (no i'm not a promoter

) is doing t-shirt printing ,one of , free. well free without the postage.

John what a great idea!!!!!!!!!
I am thinking you could take some printouts to the Print shop and i am sure they would transfer them onto a T-Shirt for you. They may ask for them on disc, but take in a paper version first. Other wise go with using some iron on paper for your home computer. Good luck in your new venture, never know we could have our own birdhouse come T-Shirt designer right here at craft happy!!!!

Thank you everyone for comments.
I had a Tshirt made up at one of the shopping malls but they did a terrible job .
I will have to do some research on how to go about it.

Was it a screen printer, cause that is what i would suggest. Just someone who only specifically makes t-shirt prints.

My daughter wanted to make some t shirts of something and so she created the picture in my PSP , much like Cindy did for you. Then we printed it out onto the t shirt transfer stuff you buy at walmart. They used black tshirts so they bought the stuff made for dark tranfers. You can buy it for light tshirts also. Once it was printed following the directions on the box, I cut them out and ironed them on. They turned out wonderful. I suggest you make sure you read the directions well.

No suggestions here ... I've never made a T-shirt and I'm terrible with computer stuff ... but I'll send lots of "good luck wishes" on this venture ... I'm sure you'll find the right plan and it will be a wonderful gift to your friends and customers in the end. Have you tried an air-brusher ... they might be able to create something for you that could be fun ... though it might be expensive.

I'm a bit late with this, but I think you would need someone that does silk-screen prints for T-shirts, not a regular print shop. My DH owns a print shop and they don't do silk-screen at all. Silk-screen prints is a whole different way of printing and uses completely different machines for it. Hope this helps.
Cindy did a great lay out for you. TFS.

Thanks Sondra
I have seen 2 different types of Tshirts
The first is a iron on picture and they peel off after a few washes and then there is a different type that i see in Tshirt stores that seem to last way longer , are they different materials?

Hi John,
Now you've gone and asked a question I don't know the answer for.

I do know that the t-shirt stores around here have a special shaped iron to make your designed t-shirts and they do last much longer. If you have any of those stores or large Flea markets that make them, you could ask if they make their own iron on designs. If they make their own t-shirt iron on designs, you might be able to get them to make you some t-shirts using your own design. Or you might have to find a silk screen printer, I just don't know what they would charge for that, worth a phone call. Sorry, I'm not much help.
You may already know this but always wash your designed iron-on T-shirts wrong side out and if they have a rubber feel to the design, it's best not to put them in the dryer. Actually, I never used the dryer on my t-shirts that have a design or printing on them, they air dry.

Thanks again Sondra
I will go to a professional T-shirt place tell them what i am looking for .
I always hang my clothes to dry outside. I do have a dryer but rarely use it.

I wish i could say yes but i haven't been able to do anything lately.
This time of year has really been affecting my body and i am getting so far behind it,s driving me crazy. I am going to see a specialist in 2 weeks so i am hoping they can help me.
I also need to design a poster for my art show in April.
