The Zettiology art style made popular through Tracy and Teesha Moore wasn't easy for me at first because I looked at it as being specific to the Moores and the feel of their art. Once I opened my eyes and my opinion to a wider perspective on the "Zetti-ness" of life, I let loose and really got comfortable with it. I must admit that I'm better at just letting go and enjoying "silly collaging" more now than I have been able to do in the past. I really struggled with this Zettiology thing when I limited myself to the Tracy and Teesha Moore style of "Zettiology".
Now, I've got a new itch to have another go at it. Since the subject has been brought up in other discussions here recently, I thought this might be a good time to launch a challenge for any type of project that lends itself to "Zetti".
For many people, Halloween is a perfect time to get a little wild, or creepy, or just have fun with stepping outside of your usual self and pretending to be something or someone else - totally out of this world. What'a say. Can you get in the spirit of pretending and getting downright silly about things for a little while? How about you give it a try?
Take the challenge and see if you can create a little something that is Zettiology-ish. Take a picture of it and then post it in our gallery to show it off and let the rest of us see what you've come up with.
I'll give this challenge a go too and create a set of ATC's with a Zetti type, whimsical feeling to them. I'll send one of them out to anyone who meets this challenge. (Yes I'm finally caught up enough to do another project. Took forever, but I'm finally there!)

I recommend that before you get started you get wrapped around what Zetti art is and how you might go about playing with it. So answer the question: What is Zettiology?
Answers I've seen posted around the web:
"Zettiology is a state of mind....a state in which you create art. You won't find it in the dictionary, you won't find it in a thesaurus. Zettiology just is."
"Zettiology is something different to everyone. To me, Zettiology is the practice of making art just for the sake of making art....but unlike impressionism, cubism, realism, zettiology is truly free."
"Zetti is the option to look at art as a playground, a space where I can explore colour and combine odd imagery."
"zettiology is just like Fluxus...that free "art can be anything and anything can be art" mentality."
"Basically, zettiology is a nothing more then a catch phrase some of us have adopted to depict the limitlessness of our art."
"A bit of history of Zetti, back in the day Tracy and Teesha Moore were very involved in Artistamps (postage like stamps, little works of art shaped like postage stamps). This particular group created complete worlds based on their "theme" Tracy created a world of "zetti" weird weird creatures. Teesha really loved his world, i read i think it was in her magazine that she loved his world better than her own world. Ultimately she adopted "Zetti" and the term stuck "zettiology" so actually "zettiology" can mean whatever you want it to mean."
"To me Zetti means a glorious wild uninhabited garden. with wild coloured flowers, blue roses (which don't truly exist). To another person it might mean striped legs and pointy hats and wings."
"Zetti is another land that exists only in your mind."
"The world of mystery of odd people, places and things."
"To me, Zetti looks like collage/animations from the old Monty Python show. Strange...surreal...intriguingly bizarre."
"I like to think of it along these lines: Creating images with no rules, a lot of imagination, an odd sense of humor, lots of layers of different elements (text, colors, visual and/or tactile textures), combining unusual and unrelated elements into a single image."
"Zettiology is a term coined by Teesha Moore, describing a style of fanciful, whimsical or odd characters, paired with vibrant colors, flowing lines, intriguing text and black/white bold patterns."

I hope this helps and I hope that you can find your "Zetti" in a new creation! Now let's go play in Zetti-land for a while!
