Recently we had our first meeting of our stamping club and one of the members that was to show us a make 'n take demo for that month found the neatest project ever. It's from the Expression magazine of Nov/dec. 2005 issue, pg. 33. The article on the Fresco technique was written by Sandra McCall.
We learned how to make replicas of aged Frescos using pre-washed cotton muslin and plaster of Paris. Then we stamped and colored the image.
Here is a scan of how mine came out. Even though plaster of Paris can be messy, the results were worth it.

Oh Sandra ... that's gorgeous ... messy obviously is worth the effort if you get something that looks like that. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks, everyone, I forgot to mention that after it's stamped, colored and dry, you bend the piece in different places so you get cracks all over it, that gives it an aged look. I think if you wanted, you could give it a light color wash to make the crack lines show up better, I didn't try that.

Arrhhh...that's a great tip. Not being a painter I need all the help I can get. TFS Sondra.
