Sounds yummy! I wonder what I could use instead of the French Onion Soup as I can't have that. I have beer I can substitute, but don't know about the soup

I'll have to figure it out, sounds really good!

Can you have fresh onion? maybe that would work? Not sure what you can use to get the 'condensed' part as I guess milk, cream is out too??
Might have to leave that suggestion to Tania.

Michelle ... I would think that you could leave the onion soup out all together and just use what ever spices or herbs you prefer ... I would use extra beef broth though if you're leaving out the soup.
BTW ... this was yummo ... we have just enough for a couple of sandwich leftovers tomorrow ... next time I'll go with a 4 pound roast instead of a 3 pounder ... I like leftovers enough for everyone.

Leave it out altogether?

Now why didn't I think of that

I'm big on left-overs too Tania...love having them the next day.?

Hmmm, maybe I'll just add some fresh onion and extra beef broth and see how it turns out - thanks ladies!

I made this a couple days ago - I used 2 cans of beef broth instead of the condensed soup because I can't have that. I also added about a 1/2 of a large onion cut into rings and I used gluten free beer. It turned out really yummy! My husband, who doesn't care for roast at all, ate FOUR sandwiches and took leftovers the next day! Thanks for the recipe Tania!

Since we never have beer , what would you suggest would be a good substitute.
I use my crock pot to make roast all the time. Makes the best melt in your mouth roast!

Glad to hear the roast went over so well with the hubby Michelle and it sounds like you were able to get around the gluten issues.
Benita ... the alcohol cooks out completely and just leaves a little zing in the sauce .... would you able to get an alcohol free beer ... I can't think of anything else that might give it the zing ... perhaps a can of cola which many people use when they cook pot roast.

I was going to suggest the alcohol free beer as well. I could definitely taste the flavor it added to the meat. I'm with Tania though, maybe a can of cola would work?
