Full Version: Fun with fonts

I've been finding and downloading a LOT of fonts lately. Partly, this is because of the computer crash. I lost a lot of my fonts. The other reason is because I'm getting ready for Sure Cuts A Lot - 4 weeks and counting until the warranty on my E is up. For SCAL, I've been paying a lot of attention to dingbat fonts (also called symbol fonts, picture fonts, and various other names) Ready made pictures!!! I've already been using these in digital art. Some are more suited to print work than they will be to cutting. But some will work for both.

I did this card for my SIL - she's into ladybugs. (Side note - never let a crafter know you like a particular "motif" - you'll never stop getting things with that motif!!!) I found a font called "Ladybug Dings" that is all kinds of different ladybugs. (Probably found it at www.dingbatdepot.com - but don't quote me on that. I've been to a lot of sites lately.) All of the ladybugs on the card came from that font. I used one of the "letters" for the background paper. One became a feature - the larger colored ladybugs. And I even spelled out "happy birthday" and her name in ladybugs for the "ribbons." I use PhotoShop Elements for my digital work, but this could be done in almost any photo program. You usually will have to simplify your text layers to do any real modification to them. But once you do, it is just like having used any digital brush or stamp. Easy-peasy, as my friend Nancy would say.

I actually printed the card elements a few times and layered things for depth. Also added some glaze pen and stardust pen accents. But what you're seeing here is just the digital image.
