Here's some more information for you to chew on...

Commercial artists work with advertisers to build layouts for billboards and magazine ads, etc. That’s what they went to school for and how they make their money. I know several crafters who use these type ads to get ideas for their own projects layouts. And we’re going to lean on their expertise for some of our projects and to have a little fun this summer too.

For the months of June, July, and August I’ll be sponsoring an “Ad Campaign” contest, with one crafty CHW member winning a super prize package in each month.


Here’s how the contest works:

For each of the three campaigns, I’ll be posting several advertising pieces for our members to use as templates in their art projects. Use as many of them as you want, to submit as many projects as you want during the campaign month. You earn points for each project you submit.

During the last week of the month we’ll have a cutoff date for submitting projects and a voting booth will open. Artists will then vote on their favorite projects in each category (scrapbook pages, greeting cards, altered art). And you’ll earn one point per vote on your projects.

When all the points are added up, the artist with the most points at the end of the month – wins the prize for that campaign month!

Here's where the "Advertising Campaign" part comes in:

I’ll post several advertisements for you to use as templates in your own craft projects. Sometimes (but not always) I’ll even build you a template along side the ad. These ad/templates are just guides. You are to use your own imagination to build your projects. The idea here, is to help you find inspiration in the many things around you including billboards and advertisements that have nothing to do with scrapbooks or greeting cards – and turn your ideas into something artistic!

Your projects can be a scrapbook page, a greeting card, an altered clipboard, book spread or book cover, or some other project that resembles the shapes and basic layout of the ads in the campaign. The categories that we’ll be voting in will be: scrapbook layouts, greeting cards, and altered art. Members will be able to vote on only one project in each of those categories. But you can enter as many projects as you wish in each of those categories each month. And you earn a point for each project you submit!


For example let’s say in June:
Artist one decided to submit 4 scrapbook page LO’s and 2 greeting cards = 6 points
Atist two submitted 2 scrapbook pages an altered project, and 5 greeting cards = 8 points
Artist three submitted 2 altered projects = 2 points

Now after voting day ends
Artist one earned 7 more voting points on her scrapbook pages, and 4 more on her cards. Now she has (11+6=17)
Artist two earned 5 more voting points on her scrapbook pages, 2 more on her cards and 1 on her altered project. Now she has a total of 16 points (8+8=16)
Artist three earned 16 votes on her altered projects. Now she has 18 points (16+2=18)

Artist three is the winner for the month of June!

Sorry about that gals. The error was because I didn't finishe setting up that gallery before I had to log off yesterday. I think I've got it fixed now. You should be able to see the photos now. Will you please let me know if you are still getting the errors?

This truely is a challenge for me. I am working on this challenge...and since today is a holiday in Canada, I hope to get some time to do some scrapping!

This sounds like it will be fun. It starts in June, right? Are you going to be offering us even more templates than you already have? I like the idea of being able to do different types of projects besides just scrapbook pages. Now my mind is starting to churn up some ideas.

I added the last of the ads for the June campaign into the gallery tonight.

Tomorrow I'll give you the rest of the instructions and a sheet you can print out with all the templates included. It will make it easier for you to keep them handy in your crafting areas rather than at your computer.

Then - it's time to get crafting!
